I'm aware that I've spent a good few posts on blogging and issues with servers and so on. As well as convincing my wife that I really am a geek (which it really is time she came to grips with!), I'm sure that it's bored the pants off of my regular readers. So, here's something else.
One of the blogs that I've been following for ages - and enjoying immensely along the way - is Hugo Schwyzer's. Hugo is a history and gender studies professor. That means he's a feminst and a bloke. When I was younger I would have assumed that Hugo was gay. (Don't crucify me, please. That's just me being honest.) Now, thanks to many patient people like Hugo, I am realising that he might not be! But he might be. But that's okay.
At Hugo's place, I've got into a number of conversations with feminsts and quickly found myself out of my depth. That's not because they are always right, in fact, sometimes what they say is a crock of shit (just as with the rest of us!). But I have found that they've made me think and consider questions that I didn't even know existed.
Here's a few other feminist blogs you might wanna check out:
Feministe is the blog of Lauren and well-worth a read. If you can't learn something from this blog then you are probably well over-due for an autopsy. I really enjoy this blog. (I'm assuming that I don't need to add that you probably won't agree with everything she says. Man, that's why it's so enjoyable!) If it wouldn't seem freaky, or a little desperate, Lauren is one (and, yes, there is more than one) of the people that I would email for no other purpose than to say, "Dammit, I love your blog!"
Des Femmes is a challenging and - for me - extremely enjoyable place to be around. Love it!
Astarte is the woman behind Utopian Hell (great name for a blog, cool design, too!). We have had our run ins from time to time but, much as it pains me to say it, she writes so well!
I don't think any of these women would consider themselves Christians, but we can hardly deny that they are discussing issues that those of us who confess to be following a God of love, peace and justice must be concerned about. I really recommend that you pay them the occasional visit. No, seriously, go!
