Gay Christians are angry with the Pope after...
Woh, woh, woh. Let's back up a minute. Is this news? Since when did gay Christians stop being angry with the Pope? Are we meant to believe that the Catholic Church has become gay-friendly, only for Benedict to suddenly reverse the trend?
No. Nevertheless, here's the rest:
Gay groups and activists have reacted angrily after Pope Benedict XVI said that mankind needed to be saved from a destructive blurring of gender.
Speaking on Monday, Pope Benedict said that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour was as important as protecting the environment.
Or, as the first report I heard put it, "Saving homosexuals from hell is more important than saving the environment." The thing is, though I have a different view of homosexuality from the Pope, I can see his logic. And I think I like it.
As the BBC News report goes on to say, the Pope's argument is that '[d]efending God's creation was not limited to saving the environment, he said, but also about protecting man from himself.' And, presumably, herself.
Like, I said, I have a different view of homosexuality than Benedict, so I'll just leave my comment at this: I'm not the single bloke wearing a dress! Can anyone say, "DE-NI-AL!"?
