So, I'm four weeks into my new job and I just realised that I haven't blogged about it yet! What's wrong with me, man? There was a time when I would have been tempted to live-blog the job interview! Well, I guess I reached that point where I chose real-life over blogging. Forgive me.
I can't actually say who my employer is, but anyone who is that interested can email me privately or, quite frankly, probably find out via Google. However, I am excited to share with you the gist of my role, as I know that a number of you have been praying for us about this.
I am now a "Father's Worker", focussed on teenage Dads. I'm actually the only one in the county, which I guess shows that not everyone has bought into the Daily Mail's fear-mongering and thrown money at the streets in a prayerful attempt to cleanse our once great nation of the scourge of teen pregnancy! There are two facets to my job: i) encouraging young guys to keep it in their pants and educate them in the area of sexual health and contraception, and ii) supporting young dads and dads-to-be in everything from claiming benefits, finding a job, getting back into College, securing their access rights, or simply helping them work on their parenting skills.
It's a great job! The funny thing is that I'm actually now getting to work in some of the areas that have interested me for a long time, but I could never really get the church involved.
I actually feel completely out of my depth - which I guess puts me on an equal footing with most of my clients!
I doubt that I'll blog about my work directly, but you'll be able to pick up snippets now and again. After all, I now have an excuse to blog about one of my favourite topics!
